Hannah and Kyal met during the early months of 2021 in the apartment complex where they both lived located in Scotts Addition, Richmond. The area was known for great breweries, arcades, and delicious food. After work one evening, Hannah ventured to the mail room to collect her mail when a playful and adorable German Short Haired Pointer dog, Cooper, went running up to her. He wasn’t on a leash because his dad was off leash training him to become a hunting dog (that didn’t last long…oops!) She bent down to give Cooper some well-deserved affection when Kyal turned the corner and they both said “hi” to each other. Little did they both know, that interaction was going to be the most important interaction of their lives.

Back in her apartment, Hannah couldn’t help but wonder about Kyal and his adorable dog. She made it her mission to find him on social media and after some sleuthing, she discovered him on the apartment’s Facebook page. Hannah sent Kyal a follow request on Instagram, to which he accepted and returned the favor. A few days later, Hannah and her friends attended trivia night at a local bar, Tang and Biscuit. Hannah’s table was ordering food, when she noticed Kyal and his friends walk in and sit at a table towards the front of the bar. As trivia night continued, Hannah eagerly volunteered to take the trivia answers up to the podium—each round—because she knew she had to pass by Kyal's table.

In the days that followed, Kyal claims, Hannah was on his mind. He decided to reach out and ask her on a date. Unfortunately, Hannah made it pretty difficult for Kyal with her crazy work schedule and upcoming travel plans.
